Although I failed to win the auction (for the Yellow Kazoo) I was intrigued by the sellers comments. I am taking the liberty of transcribing his notes for our visitors enjoyment and information.

"This little whistle looking thing is actually a kazoo, 4-3/4 inches. I know how old it is because we had a birthday party at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor a little over 15 years ago and that's when we got it.

Our Farrell's has been long gone so I did a little web searching to see if there are any more around. I started in my search at Big Yellow for nationwide Farrell's listings and got the following: - San diego, Rosemead, CA, Eugene, Portland, OR, Silver Spring, MD. Also some history, whether true or not -- "Farrell's ice cream stores ran a promotion in which customers could get free ice cream on their birthdays. Farrell's then sold its collection of names and dates to the U.S. Selective Service, which proceeded to remind the eighteen-year-old birthday boys to register for the draft."

Hello

I stumbled upon your site quite accidentally while looking for information on the long, lost Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour. I noticed you had pictures of Farrell's kazoos. I still have my old Farrell's kazoo so I decided to scan it and send it to you.

I believe I bought it around 1986-1987 at a Farrell's in Woodland Hills, CA. Thought you might like to add it to your photos.

Take care, David
