EARLY 1999 / I'm always looking for recordings of KAZOO MUSIC and so far all I have been able to find is the recording "SOME KAZOOS" by The Temple City Kazoo Orchestra. I finally found this recording "DOO-DE-DOO ON AN OLD KAZOO" by The Blue Jays (vocal) with KAZOO BAND on Coral Records Inc. a subsidiary of Decca Records Inc. 60003 A (74602) Made in U.S.A. The flip side is "CALM SEAS AND PALM TREES", both tunes were penned by a trio of writers named Eddie Pola, George Wyle and Irving Taylor. The KAZOO BAND appears to be on the Doo-De-Doo side only.
I thought it was my "LUCKY DAY" when I entered the winning bid for this unique recording but things took a turn for the worst when the package containing the record arrived at my local Post Office. The scans below tell the story.
The package was of course insured for ($25.00) but The Post Office would require me to turn over the damaged contents to their agent to be destroyed if I followed thru with the claim procedure. I oppted to keep the record AS IS and add it to the MUSEUM collection rather than have it destroyed. Had it been insured for big bucks I may have made a different decision. What would you have done ?
