HELLO THERE. I WAS READING ABOUT YOUR LUXOPHON BECAUSE I FOUND ONE IN MY GARAGE... I JUST LISTED IT ON EBAY... I QUOTED YOUR PAGE... HOPE YOU DON'T MIND... VERY
INTERESTING STUFF ON YOUR WEBSITE... THANKS, JASON BERTI
FYI: In the process of scanning and prepping the BIG SAX for its induction into The KAZOO MUSEUM I noticed that, although much larger, it had several features that matched those of another SAX already in the MUSEUM. When I checked The LUXOPHON, a smaller version of a Saxophone, it appeared that they may be from the same manufacturer. The LUXOPHON is NOT a KAZOO, it is a "TIN HORN". Instead of a vibrating membrane, the Luxophon has a tiny metal reed that vibrates and makes a high pitched (F) tin horn sound. The material used (TIN) is identical and the method of fabrication is also the same in both instruments. Overall design on both seems to indicate a common theme. The LUXOPHON is clearly marked "LUXOPHON D. R. G. M." and on the reverse "MADE IN GERMANY". The BIG SAX has NO markings. If anyone has any more info re these two seemingly related instruments, PLEEEEEASE !!! EMAIL, so we all can be informed. Thanx, Captain Kazoo
